  • Appropriate for Strong High School Students who have a firm grasp on their writing
  • Appropriate for strong High School writers seeking improvement for test taking or grade purposes
  • This course is not intended for the struggling writer or for in-coming 8th graders
  • The cost of the course is $275

Writing Combo

Students will cover:

Course Goals:

  • Prewriting
  • Drafting
  • Revising
  • Editing
  • Publishing
  • Introduce the elements of style
  • Introduce the elements of diction
  • Introduce the elements of grammar
  • Improve essays

Students will develop a greater understanding and idea of how to work with:

  • Hooks
  • Transitions
  • Literary devices

Students will explore:   

  • Each part of the writing process
  • What it takes to write a successful academic essay

Students will engage in:

  • Analysis of writing prompts
  • Strategies for writing thesis
  • Practice writing essays
  • Introduction of dictionary skills
  • Introduction to research methods

Students will continue to work with:

  • Dictionary skills
  • Working with the Internet as a research tool

This course will focus on the following essays:

  • Expository
  • Narrative
  • Argument
  • Literary Analysis

This course is TEKS and Common Core Standards aligned.

Enrolling your child in a Charson Writing session is easy.  Please click on the Programs tab to preview our courses and choose the appropriate class/classes for your child.  Once you have done so, select the session date(s) that best fit your availability and complete the Registration Form.
